Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Students, Community Members,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. My name is Thad Owens and I am the Principal of
Pomo Elementary School. I am excited to be your principal. This is my fourth year here in Konocti Unified School District. I have been in education for twenty-one years and have been a principal for ten of those years. I spent three years at East Lake Elementary school. I not only have experience working with elementary students, but have also worked with middle and high school students.
I was born and raised in Montana. I attended New Mexico State University where I received my
Bachelors of Arts degree in Agriculture Education. My masters degree was completed at California Coast University. With my background and education I feel confident that I can make Pomo Elementary School a safe and fun place where students want to come to learn.
I strongly support Pomo Elementary schools Mission Statement : “The goal of Pomo School is to
help students become safe, respectful, responsible individuals while developing a lifelong passion for knowledge. Learning at Pomo School is a combined effort involving students and family, community, and school. Together, we strive to provide a successful learning experience in a safe environment.
Active instruction, research-based curriculum, and a comprehensive assessment system are all
integral parts of our academic program. Instruction at Pom School imparts knowledge while it
develops critical thinking and problem solving skills.”
It is my goal to work with parents, students, staff, and community members to make Pomo Elementary School a safe and positive learning environment for all.
I look forward to working with all of you!
Your Principal,
Thad Owens
